As you already know, there are some pre school preparation requirements you should consider in order to anticipate and to demonstrate your interest in a dental career.
| REQUIRED UNDERGRADUATE COURSES |
| BIOLOGY |
1 year - 12 semester hours. Introductory class plus 2-4 upper division classes including cell biology, physiology, comparative anatomy, embryology, histology, human anatomy, microbiology and others. |
| CHEMISTRY |
2 years - 16 semester hours. Eight semester hours of General Chemistry including qualitative analysis and laboratory work; plus, eight semester hours of Organic Chemistry including laboratory work. |
| BIOCHEMISTRY |
1 year including with laboratory work. |
| PHYSICS |
1 year - 8 semester hours. Physics include mechanics, heat, light, sound, and electricity; whole including appropriate laboratory work. |
| MATHEMATICS |
6 semester hours. Strongly recommended to include analytic geometry, differential and integral calculus, statistics, and epidemiology. |
| NON SCIENCE COURSES |
30 semester hours. Non-science courses include: English - 6 semester hours; Philosophy and Ethics - 2 semester hours; U.S. History and World History - 5 semester hours; English, Computer Literacy and Sociology - 12 semester hours each; sculpting and Painting - 1 semester; Art and Music appreciation - 1 semester hour. |
Sometimes Physical Education, Military Science, and similar courses also are not acceptable as part of the minimum non-science requirements.
