Pickens Technical College

Pickens Technical College is a Career & Technical Education college offering training programs to adults and high school students. We are a public institution and part of Aurora Public Schools & the Colorado Community College System. Pickens Tech offers nearly 50 certificate programs ranging from Dental Assisting to Landscaping. Our goal is to provide our students with the opportunity to acquire the state-of-the-art skills, knowledge and work habits that will help them succeed in the workforce. Upon completing most programs at Pickens Tech you will receive a program completion certificate and transcript that is transferable to any community college or area technical school/college in Colorado in your area of training.

Accreditations

The programs at Pickens Technical College are approved jointly by the Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System and by the Aurora Public Schools Board of Education

The school operates under the governance of the Aurora Public Schools Board of Education and is a member of, and accredited by, the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools http://www.ncacasi.org/ as listed in the NCA Vocational/Adult Schools Directory.

Dental Assisting

The Dental Assisting Program prepares the student to assist the dentist at the chairside, in the dental operatory, to perform reception and clerical functions, and to carry out selected laboratory work. In addition, under the supervision of the dentist, the dental assistant has the responsibility for direct patient care, taking x-rays and impressions, preventive education, and nutritional counseling. Full accreditation has been granted by the American Dental Association. This program includes a combination of theory classes, laboratory classes, skills practice and clinical externships.

Upon successful completion, the student will be Dental Radiography Certified. the student will also qualify to enroll in the Expanded Function Dental Assisting Program offered here at Pickens.

This is a 12 month program. Classes begin twice a year in January & August. Daytime classes only. Classes meet 5 days per week.
