Approximately 55 students are accepted yearly to the four-year curriculum which leads to the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. The carefully designed curriculum and well-equipped facilities provide the knowledge, skill and personal sensitivity necessary to meet the needs of all who are served.

Additionally, the school sponsors two post-doctoral programs. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program consists of a four-year residency which is affiliated with the Metropolitan Nashville General Hospital and the Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Medical Center located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This program provides ample didactic and clinical educational opportunities to meet the requirements for certification of its graduates by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. One resident is accepted for admission each year into this program.

The General Practice Residency program offers an opportunity for matriculants to broaden their experiences in all aspects of clinical dentistry with a heightened emphasis on public health service and care for the physically or mentally compromised patient. The resident learns to work efficiently and effectively with other health professionals in a hospital setting.

The School of Dentistry plays a vital role in meeting the needs of the entire social spectrum. It emphasizes comprehensive care which is not contingent on social or economic circumstances, geographical origin or ethnicity. Our graduates have become noted internationally for their achievements, performance and service throughout our illustrious history.
