School accreditation


School accreditation

Dental education accreditation, which began in 1900, the ADA has delegated to the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of responsibility for the evaluation of advanced dental education programs and the list of programs that are conducted in compliance with the educational standards published. It is also included on this list all advanced education programs such as dental specialties, general medical and nursing education in advanced general dentistry.

This is a review mechanism between containing the participation of members of the discipline, the broad education community, entrepreneurs, professionals, community dental licensing and members of the public. All these groups are involved in a process designed to ensure the quality of education.

As any education in correspondence with the allied health services, accreditation is key to a dental education. Through accreditation, students can be confident of receiving their education, which has been reviewed by health and dental professionals in order to determine if they achieve or exceed the standards the professionals have set. In addition, the accreditation of a dental education certifies that education is considered valuable in the field of dentistry.

The Commission on Dental Accreditation is the largest accreditation agency recognized by the dental education. Operated under the American Dental Association (ADA) government, the Commission supports that meet the criteria to ensure that students receive a reliable and quality education.

  BODIES THAT APPROVE THE ACCREDITATION:


    There are 6 regional bodies which charge is to approve the accreditation of dental education programs;

       North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
       Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
       New England Association of Schools and Colleges
       Western Association of Schools and Colleges
       Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
       East State Association of Colleges and Schools

The Commission on Dental Accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for accrediting providing dental care, dental hygiene and dental lab technology education programs.

Likewise, the Commission on Dental Accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for accrediting dental education programs. The programs are evaluated according to the standards issued accreditation.
