Dental hygiene

Dental hygiene will enable us to prevent disease in the gums and largely avoid decay. But a dental hygiene should be carried out in such manner and with the right tools. In addition, it must devote adequate time to be effective.


  •    Cleaning the tongue.
    In our tongue we accumulate large amounts of bacteria so, it is necessary to maintain it clean by rubbing gently forward ussing the toothbrush or a tongue cleaner; in order to conserve a good oral health.
  •    Cleaning the spaces between the teeth.
    Cleaning up the spaces between the teeth (interdental spaces) is different according to each situation. If there is little space between the teeth (the ideal situation) is used dental floss; but if between teeth there is enough space (for any loss or dental movements), you should use a special brush called brush interproximal.
  •    Cleaning the teeth.
    Performed by using the toothbrush and toothpaste. The brushing will remove the remains of both, food and invisible bacterial plaque. There are several techniques for brushing, which are aimed at cleaning up the faces internal, external, chewed and swallowed.


Ideally, we must brush our teeth after every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner); but it is absolutely essential to thoroughly at least once a day. The production of saliva and lingual movements help remove plaque from the surface mouth during the vigil.

During sleep decreases saliva production and movements lingual, which favors the formation of bacterial plaque if it has not done a good dental hygiene.


  •    The toothbrush.
    It should have a rounded and small head to easily reach all teeth. The filaments have to be smooth and rounded tips to prevent injuries to the gums. Once tried it, if its use do not clean well, so you should replace it with a new one. An estimated toothbrushes lasts about three months in optimal conditions.
  •    The toothpaste or toothpaste.
    Its contributes to leave a greater sense of cleanliness. They come in the form of a paste or gel. They incorporate detergents, and virtually every leading flavoring agents. This composition facilitates dental cleaning, leaving a nice feeling to clean in the mouth.
    Nowadays, many toothpastes incorparate fluoride in its formula because it has a clear role in protection against decay. Furthermore, there is also possible to find special pastas on the market to treat tooth sensitivity incorporating potassium nitrate.
  •    The dental floss.
    There is more than one type of silk thread in the form of a ribbon or cord, glossed or not, which must be used to ensure the cleaning of the lateral sides of the teeth. To use it properly should follow a series of steps that may seem complicated, but once you keep practicing, they become very simple.
  •    Interproximal brushes.
    They are used when there is space between the teeth, either because they have lost some piece or loss of alignment or rotations tooth. Mostly, they are used instead of dental floss to ensure the cleanliness of the lateral sides of the teeth.
